We were in the 3rd room in, but it had the same layout. Our front room had plain light blue cushions. Out of all our time there, the one thing I failed to do was to take pictures of the hotel and hotel room. Rick saw the pictures and said, "Aw, look, there's our home... well, not home but where we lived for that month!" And as for that iguana, the lady by the pool said they wouldn't bite but there was a little boy there who said he'd gotten bitten on the behind by one. Tell Justin that we had to be schooled also on door opening Cucuta-style. Rick learned quick but it took me 3 weeks to master the correct # of turns it took to lock and unlock. The drive over there took about 2 hours or so, at full racing speeds and darting in and out of trucks, slower cars, etc. The climate is generally at least 10 degrees F cooler there. And another thing I forgot to mention, we didn't realize this until the last few days when we were looking over our hotel bill... the restaurant staff is already receiving a tip automatically deducted from your bill. We tipped them each and every meal and had wonderful service, no doubt about it, sometimes causing fights amongst the servers... later we found out why they were so eager to serve us. We often wondered why nobody else was leaving tips for the servers but never really put it together. As for the maid staff and whether or not to secure your personal items and electronics... we never encountered any problems but often found the room left open with the maid 3 rooms over, so we opted to put the computer and the cameras out of sight whenever possible. Also, our A/C one day leaked on our suitcases so be aware you don't want to put your belongings underneath the A/C. I'll bet I think of other things but that's enough for now. Enjoy yourselves today! There will be so much excitement tomorrow and the days ahead!!!

So glad you all are settling in and have a great place to stay. Can't wait for pics of Maya, we will check in daily and will be praying for rapid bonding and attachment!

They've upgraded the TV to a more modern style. Everything else in the hotel looks the same. I know how many emotions you are working your way through right about now. It has been a long wait (A long road home!) and that moment is almost upon you. I'm so happy your interpreter and your attorney are hosting you in such wonderful ways. Get some good rest tonight because tomorrow begins a new chapter, one that I can't wait to hear about! PS. The drive over made Rick a little ill feeling, not sure whether it was the altitude, that lovely (joking) smell of diesel, the steep mountain passes, the insane driving, the fact that he's such a control freak and he was just a mere passenger stuck on this ride he couldn't escape from, or a combo of all those factors. You'll be fine -- the prize that awaits you there is all worth it! Sending my well wishes for your incredible journey!

Looks like you are settled in at your home away from home! Can't wait to hear about Gotcha Day and see some great pics of Maya sliding down that slide.
